SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Swimming and Diving will host Stanford this Friday, Oct. 20th, at the Ute Natatorium, with competition set to begin at 2:00 p.m. The Cardinal women's team is ranked No. 1 in the nation, while the men's team is No. 3 in the country.
"Our early season schedule certainly does not get any easier with Stanford coming to campus," said head coach Joe Dykstra. "Our hope is to build off what we did against Cal and compete toe-to-toe with top-notch opposition. These early season tests against national title contenders will help us to be highly competitive at the big meets that count at the end of the year.
Both ourselves and Stanford will be without some of our top swimmers as they get set to compete with the Pac-12 All Stars vs the US National Team on Saturday, so that will really give some other people a chance to step up into bigger roles."
These teams last met wo seasons ago as Paul Ungur was able to take the 100 back and jack Burton placed second in the 200 breast. On the women's side Darby Wayner placed second in the 100 fly as both Gillian St. John and Dorien Butter earned top-five finishes in the 50 free.

Stanford had 13 different All-Americans combine for 47 All-America honors, while also earning their 37th straight top-eight finish.
The men successfully defended their Pac-12 Conference Swimming and Diving Championship while finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships to wrap up its 2016-17 campaign. Fifteen Cardinal swimmers and divers earned All-America honors, and 18 were named to the Pac-12's All-Academic team, the most of any program.
