AUGUSTA, Ga. – Utah junior punter Mitch Wishnowsky, the 2016 Ray Guy Award winner and a unanimous consensus All-American, has been named a semifinalist for the 2017 award, the Augusta Sports Council announced today.

The 2017 Ray Guy Award winner will be announced on ESPN during the Home Depot College Football Awards airing live from the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on Dec. 7.

Wishnowsky currently ranks second in the nation in net punting (43.89) and was selected as a Midseason All-American by Athlon and the All-American. He is third in the nation in percentage of punts inside the 10 (26.32%, 10-of-38 punts) and tied for seventh nationally in total punts downed inside the 10-yard line (10). Those include three punts at the 5-yard line, one at the 3-yard line and one at the 2-yard line. Wishnowsky has had 16 punts downed inside the 20-yard line (42.11%, 16-of-38).

Wishnowsky leads the Pac-12 and ranks eighth in the nation in punt average (45.4). He has 38 punts for 1,724 yards with 11 punts of 50+ yards (long of 60). Wishnowsky was named the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week on Oct. 16 (USC).
