Ute joins former teammate Flippen with Scrap Yard Dawgs
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah's Anissa Urtez, a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree, has signed a professional contract with the Scrap Yard Dawgs of the National Pro Fastpitch League.
Urtez started every game in her career and had her best offensive output during the 2017 campaign. She ranked fourth in the Pac-12 with a .405 batting average and fourth in the league in runs batted in (50). With 42 doubles and 161 runs batted in, she ranked among the top five in Utah history.
The Dawgs are located in Conroe, Texas, a suburb of Houston. The Dwags are in their second year of existence and feature the NCAA career leader in wins and strikeouts, Monica Abbott. Flippen will join five other Pac-12 players on the roster including newly drafted Ali Aguliar (Washington) and Nikki Udria (Oregon).
