Evanston, Ill. - Utah women's tennis had a strong showing during the second day of competition at the Wildcat Invite.Â
"It was a good day for us as we won all three doubles and three of five singles," said Utah head coach Mat Iandolo. "Breezy is in the finals of her flight."Â
After a first-round win yesterday, Alexia Petrovic recorded a victory over Marquette's Fleur Eggink, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. She will take on Caroline Dunleavy of Notre Dame tomorrow.Â
Brianna Turley put up a tough fight today as she defeated DePaul's Aspasia Avgeri, 3-6, 6-5, 6-4. Tomorrow, she will face Inci Ogut of Northwestern in the Gray Flight Singles Draw.Â
In the Orange Flight Singles Draw, Whitney Turley defeated Cat Orfanos of Montana, 6-2, 6-3. She will face Camila Moreno of Pitt tomorrow.
In Maroon Doubles draw, B. Turley and senior Margo Pletcher advanced to the final match in the Maroon Doubles Draw. They defeated Lejla Colic and Georgie Sanders of UIC, 7-5. They will face Cameron Corse and Zoe Spense of Notre Dame tomorrow.
Also in the Maroon Doubles draw was sophomores W. Turley and Leah Heimuli. The duo defeated Aspasia Avgeri and Alina Kuzmenkova of DePaul, 7-6.Â
Another win put up today was by seniors Petrovic and Victoria Robertson in the Garnet Doubles Draw. They went up against Claudia Bartolom and Camila Moreno of Pitt coming out with a 7-5 victory.Â
Both singles and doubles action will conclude tomorrow.
