WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. –
Guro Jordheim and
Martin Bergström won the women's and men's 10-km freestyle races on Sunday afternoon to close out the Montana State Invitational. Utah finished second overall at the MSU Invite.
It was Jordheim's first career victory and her second podium of the season. She has been in the top five in three of four races.
Mariah Bredal finished tied for ninth, for her best finish of the season.
Karianne Moe did not finish and
Leah Lange did not race.
Bergström has won three of four races this season and has five career wins. Håkon Hjelstuen finished sixth and has been in the top six in all four races this year. Bjørn Riksaasen finished seventh, tying his best career finish.
Jacob Engström finished 13th for his best finish of the year.
Logan Diekmann did not race. For the second-straight race, Utah's men had the top race score with 92 points.
Utah finished second overall at the MSU Invite with 581.5 points. Colorado won the meet with 658 points. Denver finished third (561) with Montana State (534) and Alaska Anchorage (419) fourth and fifth.
The Utah Nordic teams return to action next weekend with their portion of the Utah Invitational. The races will be held in West Yellowstone, Mont., due to local ski conditions. The meet begins on Thursday, Jan. 18, with the 15-km and 20-km freestyle races with the 5-km and 10-km classic races on Friday, Jan. 19. Utah stands fifth in the Utah Invitational after the alpine races.
