Utes Continue To Improve at ITA Regional

LAS VEGAS –The University of Utah women's tennis team finished their third day of competition at the ITA Mountain Regional tournament earlier today.
Brianna Chisholm was able to advance for the Utes in singles competition, defeating Air Force's Kristen Kerrigan with a final score of 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. With this win, Chisholm will face off against UNLV's Anna Bogoslavets in the quarterfinals of singles play in the top half of the draw.
In the singles consolation bracket, Leah Heimuli was victorious against Northern Colorado's Raffa Mora, coming away with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win in the first round.
In doubles, Taylor Calton and Anya Lamoreaux were not able to advance past the third round, as they fell short to UNLV with a score of 8-2. Madison Tattini and Brianna Chisholm were also unable to card a victory in the third round, being defeated by Idaho with a score of 8-6.
The doubles team of Whitney Hekking and Leah Heimuli were able to advance, as they defeated Boise State with a score of 8-2 in the third round. In the next round, they bested NAU with a final score of 8-6. With this win, Hekking and Heimuli will face off against Air Force in the doubles semifinal.
The ITA Regional tournament will continue tomorrow with semifinal doubles, quarterfinal singles and consolation singles and doubles.
