SALT LAKE CITY– The No. 27-ranked Utah cross country team travels north this Friday to Logan, Utah to compete at the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invite. Hosted by Utah State University, the meet will take place at the Innovation Wellness Park with competition set to begin at 3 p.m. MST.
"Back up at Utah State and it seems like we've spend a lot of time up there recently but with them having a dedicated cross country course they try to host several meets throughout the year," Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We are certainly excited about the opportunity to go back up there and get some of our kids a much needed race."
Running for the Utes this Friday will be:
Hannah Allred,
Makenzie Clark,
Emma Christensen,
Ashley Licata,
Astrid Lindgren, and
Brooke Manson (unattached).
True freshman
Brooke Manson will be competing in her first collegiate cross country meet of the season. In high school, Manson had her best state cross country finish in 2015 and 2017 placing 20th.
"We are going to run a small group of kids who for one reason or another maybe they are more in a developmental stage, maybe there has been some injury or illness, on the comeback trail, etc., that is who is going to race for us this week," Kepler explained.
With last weekend off, the Utes were able to get some extra training in to help prepare them for the final stretch of the season. After a great outing at the Battle in Beantown where the Utes captured third and beat out four other ranked teams, Utah entered the national rankings for the first time this season coming in at No. 27 in the nation. The last time the Utes were ranked among the top-30 in the nation was back on Oct. 17, 2017 when they were ranked No. 27.
