FIRST SERVE
Utah is hosting No. 19 Washington State and No. 21 Washington for its Pink Week. The Utes got a split on the road against the Cougars and Huskies earlier in the season.
Washington State is currently 15-5 and holds a 6-4 record in the Pac-12. They had a big weekend at home defeating USC and UCLA to push their home record to 7-0 this season. They are 6-4 on the road.
Washington is 13-7 and 5-5 in the Pac-12. The Huskies have lost three in a row coming into this week's matches.
Both matches will be on Pac-12 Network.
SERIES HISTORY
Utah is 11-14 all-time against Washington State. The Utes had won four in a row over the Cougars until the last meeting when WSU won in five sets. In that match, the Utes found themselves trailing 2-0 before they made a comeback to force a fifth set. The Utes had three match points in the fifth, but Washington State battled back and closed out the fifth set 18-16.
The Utes did get a victory over Washington to move their overall record against the Huskies to 8-16. Utah had a big bounce-back match against UW to get a four-set victory after the tough road loss to Washington State.
PROMOTIONS
Originally, the Utes had plans to honor five breast cancer survivors at Wednesday's match, but they have pushed those plans to Friday against Washington. They will also honor Chrissy Turner, who became a member of the team through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation this season.
If fans wear pink to either match, they will receive free admission.
CLOSING IN ON 1,000
Brianna Doehrmann has been on fire lately having at least 22 digs in three of her last five matches.
Overall, she has had six matches with 20-plus digs including her last match against No. 25 Arizona where she had a season high 28 digs averaging 7.0 digs per set.
With her big performances, she is only seven digs away from career dig 1,000. Doehrmann would become the 11th player in program history with 1,000 career digs.
FRIENDS OF JACLYN FOUNDATION
Utah added a new teammate last week in Chrissy Turner through the Friends of Jaclyn foundation.
Chrissy was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was eight years old.
She will be honored at the Washington match on Friday, October 26.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
In 2017, Utah averaged 2,017 fans in its 16 home matches. Throughout the season out of the top-10 crowds in the Huntsman Center ever, six of the 10 came in 2017.
This season, Utah fans haven't slowed down as the Utes rank 13th in the country averaging 2,534 fans per match. That is the highest average in the Pac-12.
