EVANSTON, Ill. – The University of Utah women's tennis has wrapped up day two of competition at the Wildcat Invite.
The first day of competition consisted of one round doubles action, as well as one round of singles play. For doubles, in the Flight A bracket, the duo of
Anya Lamoreaux and
Taylor Calton were able to advance, as they defeated Northwestern's Inci Ogut and Carol Finke with a final score of 6-1.
In singles,
Emily Dush was able to advance in the Flight A bracket, as she defeated Shivani Swarup Ingle from the University of Illinois, with a score of 7-5, 6-3. In the Flight C bracket,
Brianna Chisholm defeated Michigan State's Emily Metclaf, 2-6, 7-6, 1-0(2), to advance to the next round.
Madison Tattini also advanced in the Flight D bracket, besting Chicago State's Katarina Drazic 6-0, 6-3. In the Flight F bracket,
Jasmine Rich topped Chicago State's Maria Kuzminskaya, 6-1, 6-0, to advance.
In the Flight G bracket,
Whitney Hekking advanced as she beat out Alexandrina Chinikova of Marquette, with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Then in the Flight H bracket, Lamoreaux made it to the next round after defeating Lesley Foe of Marquette, 6-4, 6-0. The final advancement of the day for the Utes came from
Leah Heimuli, as she defeated Lewis University's Aleksandra Sredojevic, with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
With the conclusion of day two of competition,
Lindsay Hung was able to advance in the Flight E Consolation bracket, as she defeated Keisha Clousin of DePaul with a final score of 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(6). Hung will face-off against Inci Ogut of Northwestern in the final round on Sunday, with the winner being crowned champion. In the Flight B Consolation bracket,
Taylor Calton was able to defeat Illinois-Chicago's Karyna Bihel, 7-5, 6-2, to advance to the final round. She will face off against Bella Lorenzini from the University of Michigan for the championship.
In the Flight F bracket,
Jasmine Rich was able to advance, as she defeated Lewis University's Sophie Davis 6-2, 6-3. She will face off against Tiffany Chen from Princeton in the semi-finals, with the winner advancing to the final round.
In doubles play, Lamoreaux and Calton will play in the finals tomorrow for Flight A after defeating Inci Ogut and Carol Finke of Northwestern (6-1) on Friday and Alyvia Jones and Bella Lorenini of Michigan today (7-5) while Hung and Dush will play in the consolation bracket.
The Wildcat Invite will wrap up competition tomorrow, as singles and doubles action will come to a conclusion.
