Utes Dominant in Second Day of SDSU Invite

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Utah women's tennis team concluded action at the SDSU Invitational earlier today. Three Utah doubles teams will be competing for the championship in their individual brackets tomorrow.

In doubles, Madison Tattini and Brianna Chisholm defeated Shakhnoza Khatamova and Jennifer Moinard, Tattini and Chisholm will compete against the No. 1 seeded Niluka Madurawe and Janice Shin tomorrow in the championship round. Whitney Hekking and Leah Heimuli were also victorious in the Flight B bracket, against Nnena Nadozie and Magda Aubets, 7-6(3), and they will match up against Faye Worrall and Zoey Nelson tomorrow in the championship round. In Flight C, Lindsay Hung and Taylor Calton defeated Ellen Ashley and Lauren Anderson, and will face off against Louise Waite and Yasmin Mansouri in the championship round.

In singles, in the Flight B bracket, Madison Tattini bested Nnena Nadozle from San Diego State, 7-6(7), 4-5, before Nadozle retired. Tattini will play against Niluka Madurawe from Stanford in the championship round. In the Flight C bracket Emily Dush topped Monica Malinen from Colorado, 7-6(5), 6-4, and will match up against Stanford's Sara Choy tomorrow in the championship round.

Whitney Turley then defeated Grace Olyphant in the Flight D bracket, 6-0, 7-5, and will play against Abigail Mulbarger from San Diego State University. In the Flight E singles bracket, Anya Lamoreaux defeated the No. 1 seeded Yasmin Masouri with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, and will play against San Diego State's Agustina Rimoldi Godoy in the championship round. Finally, Leah Heimuli topped the No. 2 seeded Stephanie Broussard from Eastern Washington with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, and will play against Eastern Washington's Faye Worrall for the championship round.

The SDSU invitational will continue tomorrow with the final rounds of the tournament, with results being available on UtahUtes.com.
