SALT LAKE CITY – Utah junior skier
Guro Jordheim won the women's 5-km freestyle race at the Yellowstone Ski Festival on Saturday, Nov. 14, as the Utes continue to prepare for the upcoming collegiate season.
Jordheim won in 14:26.3, pacing three Utah skiers in the top five.
Mariah Bredal finished third in 14:48.3 with
Julia Richter in fifth in 14:51.5. The Utes were three of the first four collegiate skiers in the race.
Leah Lange also earned a top-10 finish with an eighth-place run (15:08.8) while
Karianne Moe was 16th (15:32.7).
In the men's 10-km race,
Bjørn Riksaasen finished 12
th in 26:53.4 followed by
Ola Jordheim in 13
th in 26:54.7.
Logan Diekmann also had a top-20 finish, running 18
th in 27:16.2.
Noel Keeffe finished 30
th (28:21.7) with
Jacob Engström in 40
th (29:12.1).
Several of Utah's collegiate opponents also participated in the event (Colorado, Montana State, New Mexico) along with some of the top non-collegiate teams in the country.
Utah opens the RMISA season at the Colorado Invitational with the first Nordic race on Jan. 12.
