SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah diving teams concluded the first evening of competition at their diving invite with four Utes advancing to the finals.
The women went first with sophomores Emma Ruchala and Clare Greenlow qualifying for the three meter finals. Ruchala finished sixth with a final score of 252.75 after posting a 281.75 in the prelims. Greenlow was just ahead of her with a final score of 264.10 in fifth place.
Daniel Theriault and Luke McDivitt made the finals for Utah in the men's one meter. McDivitt took third with a final of 335.30, the seventh-best score in Utah history. Theriault was sixth this evening with a score of 268.75.
"Luke came back from injury and notched a high score that ranks him among the top 10 at Utah so that was exciting to see after a long layoff," head coach Richard Marschner said. "Emma and Clare really got it going and put some good dives down. Daniel is continuing his solid run that started at Missouri. It is nice to see the pieces coming together."
The women's three meter and men's one meter prelims will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with the finals at 4:15 p.m. The Utes are competing against Air Force, BYU and USC.
There will be free pizza for all students with ID and reserved seating for the first 100 fans in attendance. With a men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, parking will be at a premium.
