LOVELAND and MINTURN, Colo. – Guro Jordheim won the 5-km freestyle for her fourth victory of the season as the Utah ski team stands fourth overall at the Denver Invitational after six races.
Jordheim has four race wins this season, which leads women's Nordic and is tied for the lead among all disciplines. She has seven podium finishes this year.
Mariah Bredal tied her best finish of the year with a sixth-place finish.
Karianne Moe tied her best finish of the year with 13
th while
Leah Lange was 15
th.
In the men's 10-km freestyle, Utah led all teams with four skiers in the top 10.
Håkon Hjelstuen finished sixth,
Martin Bergström was seventh,
Bjørn Riksaasen finished eighth and
Jacob Engström finished 10
th on the day. It was Riksaasen's seventh-straight top-10 finish while Engström tied his best finish of the season.
In alpine,
Huston Philp and
Julie Mohagen led the way in the men's and women's slalom races. Philp had his best finish of the year in the men's race with an eighth-place finish.
Linus Walch finished 13
th,
Ty Sprock was tied for 16
th,
Martin Grasic finished 21
st while
Sam Dupratt was 31
st. In the women's race, Mohagen finished in the top 10 for the fourth-straight race, tying for eighth.
Ann-Kathrin Breuning finished 12
th while
Sabine Krautgasser placed 19
th.
Utah has 403.5 points, trailing Colorado (477), Montana State (441.5) and Denver (436.6) with New Mexico in fifth (378).
The Denver Invite continues on Sunday, Feb. 11, with the men's 10-km and women's 5-km classic races.
