RED RIVER, N.M. and CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Guro Jordheim and
Martin Bergström won the classic races as the Utah ski team finished third at the New Mexico Invitational on Sunday.
It was Bergström's league-high fourth win of the season. He has six career victories for the Utes. Bergström has been on the podium in six races this year.
Logan Diekmann finished seventh for his fourth top-10 finish of the year while
Bjørn Riksaasen placed eighth to give him six top 10 finishes this year.
Jacob Engström placed 10
th for his best finish of the season.
Håkon Hjelstuen finished 17
th.
Jordheim won her third race of the season, which leads the women's Nordic circuit. She has six podium finishes this year.
Mariah Bredal finished 10
th for her sixth top-10 finish of the year.
Leah Lange placed 11
th.
Karianne Moe did not race.
In the women's slalom,
Julie Mohagen led the Utes with a 10
th-place finish for her second top-10 finish of the year.
Ann-Kathrin Breuning placed 12th.
Sabine Krautgasser did not race.
In the men's slalom,
Huston Philp led the way with a 13
th-place finish.
Sam Dupratt finished 19
th while
Ty Sprock was 21
st.
Martin Grasic was disqualified while
Linus Walch did not finish his first run.
Utah finished third overall at the meet with 547.5 points behind Colorado (652) and Denver (645.5). New Mexico finished fourth (537) with Montana State fifth (527.5).
The Utes return to the hill on Friday, Feb. 9, as the Denver Invitational begins with the giant slalom.
