LOVELAND, Colo. – Utah skier
Ann-Kathrin Breuning finished second in the women's giant slalom to lead the ski team at the Denver Invitational as the Utes stand fourth after the first day of competition.
Breuning earned her second podium finish of the year with the finish as well as her sixth top-five finish of the year.
Julie Mohagen finished seventh, her third straight and fourth top-10 finish of the year.
Sabine Krautgasser placed 24
th.
For the men,
Huston Philp finished ninth for his best finish of the year.
Linus Walch placed 11
th with
Sam Dupratt 16
th. Both had strong first runs, with Dupratt third after the first run and Walch eighth.
Martin Grasic finished 22
nd while
Ty Sprock placed 28
th.
Utah has 131 points for fourth place after two races. Montana State leads with 155 points, followed by Colorado (149) in second and New Mexico (146) in third.
The Denver Invitational continues on Saturday, Feb. 9, with the men's and women's slalom races as well as the Nordic 10 and 5-km freestyle races.
