STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Martin Bergström and Guro Jordheim earned All-America honors on the final day of the 2018 NCAA Skiing Championships on Saturday, March 10, as the Utes finished fourth overall in the team standings.
Jordheim finished fourth in the women's 15-km classic for her second All-America honor of the weekend. She finished in the top four 12 times this year. She has four career All-America honors at Utah. Mariah Bredal finished 19th while Leah Lange was 21st.
In the men's 20-km freestyle, Bergström closed out his career with an eighth-place finish for his fourth career All-America honor. He will end his career with three NCAA titles, the most of any Nordic skier in Utah history. Håkon Hjelstuen finished 19th while Bjørn Riksaasen placed 24th.
Utah entered the day in fourth and were unable to pick up any points after strong races by Denver, Colorado and Dartmouth, which finished first, second and third. The Utes had 385.5 points with Denver scoring 604 points, Colorado 563 and Dartmouth 448.5.
The Utes end the championships with one individual championship (Bergström in the 10-km classic) and five All-Americans: Jordheim, Bredal and Bergström in Nordic and Huston Philp and Ann-Kathrin Breuning in alpine).
