SALT LAKE CITY – Utah skiers
Martin Bergström and
Guro Jordheim have been named RMISA Nordic Athletes of the Year, announced today by the league.
Bergström won the men's 10-km classic title at the NCAA Championships and finished eighth in the 20-km freestyle. The RMISA regular-season MVP, he led all men's Nordic skiers with five victories and tied for the league lead with nine podium finishes.
Bergström ends his Utah career with three NCAA Championships, including the 2017 classic and freestyle titles, which is more NCAA titles than any other Nordic skier in Utah history. He had seven career race wins and 15 career podium finishes. He is a four-time All-American and the two-time RMISA Men's Nordic Athlete of the Year.
Jordheim finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in both the 5-km classic and 15-km freestyle races. She led all skiers in the RMISA with seven victories and 10 podium finishes with 13 top-five finishes and earned regular-season MVP honors. Jordheim ended the regular season on a five-race win streak.
Jordheim is a four-time All-American in her two seasons at Utah and is two-time first-team All-RMISA. She has seven career race wins and 14 career podium finishes.
Utah finished fourth at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
