STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. –
Ann-Kathrin Breuning led the Utes in the slalom races on Friday, March 9, as the Utah ski team stands 40 points out of third place going into the final day of the NCAA Championships, trailing Dartmouth in the team standings.
Denver leads the team standings with 437 points followed by Colorado in second (411). Utah has 290.5 points, trailing third-place Dartmouth (330.5). Vermont is fifth with 279 points.
In the women's slalom, Breuning led the Utes with a 14
th-place finish in her final NCAA race. She finishes her Utah career with two podiums and eight top five finishes in her only year at Utah after skiing for Westminster. Junior
Julie Mohagen placed 16
th for Utah.
For the men, senior
Sam Dupratt closed out his career with an 18
th-place finish. He had three career wins and seven career podium finishes for Utah. Freshman
Huston Philp tied for 21st while freshman
Linus Walch placed 30th.
Utah closes out the NCAA Championships on Saturday, March 10, with the women's 15-km and men's 20-km freestyle races.
Martin Bergström is the defending champion in the event and
Håkon Hjelstuen has won or finished second in every 20-km or more race this year.
Guro Jordheim has won both 15-km skate races held this year on the RMISA circuit.
