SALT LAKE CITY – Katie Donovan was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 team, selected by CoSIDA. She is the first three-time Academic All-District honoree in Utah history.
A senior from Salem, Ore., Donovan maintains a 3.83 grade point average (GPA) in honors biology with a minor in ecology and legacy. Yesterday, she became the first Utah softball player to be named Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. Donovan is also a two-time first team Pac-12 All-Academic selection and NFCA Scholar Athlete award recipient.
Athletically, Donovan is a three-time NFCA All-Region honoree and All-Pac-12 honoree. She is the active Pac-12 leader in saves (13), starts (111), innings (656.0) and appearances (155). Her 64 career wins rank fourth in Utah history and her 561 career strikeouts rank third.
Donovan is part of a 12-player squad that includes student-athletes from institutions in California, Washington, Arizona and Utah. Stanford and Washington are the only other Pac-12 schools represented and Utah now has five honorees over the past three seasons.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
