SALT LAKE CITY –Â
Katie Donovan was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 team, selected by CoSIDA. She is the first three-time Academic All-District honoree in Utah history.
A senior from Salem, Ore., Donovan maintains a 3.83 grade point average (GPA) in honors biology with a minor in ecology and legacy. Yesterday, she became the first Utah softball player to be named Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. Donovan is also a two-time first team Pac-12 All-Academic selection and NFCA Scholar Athlete award recipient.Â
Athletically, Donovan is a three-time NFCA All-Region honoree and All-Pac-12 honoree. She is the active Pac-12 leader in saves (13), starts (111), innings (656.0) and appearances (155). Her 64 career wins rank fourth in Utah history and her 561 career strikeouts rank third.Â
Â
Donovan is part of a 12-player squad that includes student-athletes from institutions in California, Washington, Arizona and Utah. Stanford and Washington are the only other Pac-12 schools represented and Utah now has five honorees over the past three seasons.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
