SALT LAKE CITY – Both Utah swimming teams will travel down to Provo on Friday for the BYU Relays at 5 p.m.
"I think everyone is excited to kick things off," head coach Joe Dykstra said. "Even though it is an exhibition, it is always fun to go against a rival. It is a very non-traditional meet in terms of events, so it is fun and intense at the same time. It is a great way to get us prepared for the season."
The schedule for Friday consists of coed relays, 3x50's and several other events. It will be free admission to the public.
The regular season meet between the two programs, also known as the Deseret First Duel, will be held Friday-Saturday, Jan. 25-26 at Don Reddish Pool in Ute Natatorium. Diving events will be held on Friday night with swimming action beginning Saturday morning.
Utah's 2018-19 regular season begins with consecutive meets at Stanford and California, Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 9-10. The first home event is Thursday, Oct. 11 with the men facing Colorado Mesa.
