BOISE, Idaho – The Utah women's track and field team completed day two of the Ed Jacoby Invitational Saturday by bringing home three event titles. The Utes captured first in the 600-meter run, mile run, and the 4x400-meter relay.Â

"We had a really outstanding meet and I am really impressed," head coach
Kyle Kepler said.  "Terrific effort all the way around and we won three events with the 600-meter race being the highlight of the meet. We had six runners place one through six in that race with some really great performances." Â

In the 600-meter run, the Utes had 8 runners finish inside the top-10. Freshman
Brooke Manson led the way capturing the event title with a time of 1:34.78. Sophomore
Jackie Martin and senior
Mesa Weidle followed in Manson finishing in second and third place, respectively. Martin finished with a time of 1:34.96 while Weidle finished in a time of 1:35.27. Junior
Nicole Griffiths and senior
Sadie Wassum rounded out the top five finishers for the Utes as they earned fourth and fifth place, respectively. Griffiths finished in a time of 1:35.62 and Wassum finished with a time of 1:37.03. Also competing for the Utes was freshman
Brooklyn James (sixth, 1:37.54), freshman
Lauren O'Banion (ninth, 1:41.48), sophomore
Kayla Rees (10th, 1:42.19, and freshman Maya Lebar (11th, 1:44.69).

Utah had another good outing in the mile run where freshman
Scarlet Dale finished in first with a personal-best time of 5:00.42. Junior
Sarah Newton finished in second with a personal-best time of 5:03.83 and sophomore
Whitney Hessler earned fifth with a personal-best time of 5:05.59.Â

Freshman
Taylor Watson had a strong showing in the 60-meter dash as she was the only Ute with a qualifying time to compete in the finals race. In the preliminaries, Watson captured second place with a time of 7.68 and in the finals Watson earned second place with a new personal and school-record time of 7.66. Watson topped previous record holder
Alissa Atisme by tenth of a second. Also competing for the Utes in the preliminaries was senior Raynee Helm Wheelock, freshman
Skyler Blair and freshman
Katrina Broadhead and sophomore
Ruby Jane Mathewson. Wheelock finished in 15th (7.93), Blair earned 22nd (8.10), Broadhead captured 39th (8.41), and Mathewson finished in 45th (8.69).Â

Watson also led Utah in the 200-meter dash as she captured fourth place with a time of 25.36. Wheelock followed in Wastson finishing in 10th place with a personal-best time of 25.85 and Blair earned 11th in a time of 25.86. B. Martin, Broadhead and Mathewson also competed and finished in 36th (27.23), 42nd (27.61) and 50th (27.89), respectively.Â

In the 3,000-meter run, sophomore
Trina Moreno finished first for Utah as she earned third place with a time of 10:13.29. Rounding out the five finishers for the Utes was freshman

Emma Christensen, senior
Hannah Allred and sophomore
Astrid Lindgren. Leonard earned sixth (10:19.49), Christensen placed 7th (10:22.55), Allred finished in 9th (10:49.89) and Lindgren captured 10th (10:53.39).Â

Utah showed dominance in the 1,000-meter run as all five runners finished inside of the top-9. Junior
Sarah Feeny led the Utes capturing second place in a personal-best time of 2:47.01. Freshman
Sophie Ryan and redshirt freshman
Cara Woolnough came in behind Feeny finishing in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Ryan finished in a time of 2:53.86 and Woolnough finished in a time of 2:56.20. Senior
Megan Killian placed eighth in a time of 3:02.54 and sophomore
Natalie Platil captured ninth with a time of 3:02.79.Â

Freshman
Kennedy Powell and junior
Anna Busatto competed in the 800-meter run for the Utes. Powell finished in fifth with a time of 2:18.91 while Busatto earned 13th with a time of 2:25.42.Â

Utah entered four teams to compete in the 4x400-meter relay and three of them finished in the top-six. Utah 'A' finished in first and took home the event title with a time of 3:51.24. Competing on team 'A' was J. Martin, Lebar, Blair, and O'Banion. Utah 'B' placed fourth in a time of 3:56.96. Competing for team 'B' was Weidle, B. Martin, James, and Hessler. Utah 'C' earned sixth with a time of 4:01.51. Running for team 'C' was Newton, Manson, Ryan, and Woolnough. Utah 'D' captured 11th with a time of 4:05.13. Running for team 'D' was Griffiths, Wassum, Powell, and Killian.Â

In the field, senior
Eliza Hansen competed for the Utes in the women's high jump and Broadhead competed in the women's shot put. Hansen finished in eighth with a jumping height of 1.61 meters (5'3.25") and Broadhead earned 35th with a throwing distance of 7.56 meters (24'9.75"). Kolbi Simms competed unattached in both events where she finished in third in the high jump with a height of 1.71 meters (5'7.25") and placed 27th in the shot put with a distance of 10.04 meters (32'11.25").Â

"I thought across the board everyone competed hard and tried to get better today," Kepler said. "I'm really excited for where we are at right now and this was a great first step out of the gates and we are looking forward our next meet in New Mexico next weekend."Â

The Utes will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 26, at the New Mexico Team Invitational. Â
