SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Swimming tuned up for the Deseret First Duel tomorrow with a 146-40 victory over the College of Idaho this evening.
"This was a great opportunity to help a team and for us to get different kids swimming a number of events," head coach
Joe Dykstra said. "We wanted to get race ready for tomorrow and I think we accomplished that with this meet."
The men's meet started with a successful relay as
Ethan Dillard,
Brody Lewis,
Colten Montgomery and
Austin Phillips took the 200 medley in 1:31.00. Dillard also captured the 100 fly in 51.32 and Phillips won the 50 free in 20.68.
Felix Chiun,
Rodolfo Moreira,
Rahiti De Vos and Montgomery capped the evening with a 1:23.74 to win the 200 free relay. De Vos also took first in the 100 free with a time of 47.28.
Daniel McArthur swam the 200 free in 1:41.37 to prepare for his final home meet tomorrow and was joined in the winner's circle by
Ben Waterman (1:54.53 - 200 IM),
Jackson Cunningham (4:03.66 - 400 IM),
Cole Giandinoto (4:40.99 - 500 free),
Harrison Wayner (57.71 - 100 breast) and
David Fridlander (50.04 - 100 back).
The Utes and Cougars start competition tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Don Reddish Pool.
