SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah ski team travels to New Mexico for the New Mexico Invitational beginning on Friday, Feb. 1.
The meet hosts two men's and women's slalom races, one Friday and one Saturday. In Nordic, the men's and women's 7.5-km classic races will be on Friday with the men's and women's 5-km freestyle races on Saturday.
Alpine events will be held at Red River Ski Area while Nordic events are at The Enchanted Forest.
Of the two events held this season, Utah won the Colorado Invitational and finished second by five points at the Montana State Invitational.
Women's Nordic is led by
Guro Jordheim who has won three of four races this season with a second-place finish in the only race she did not win. She is the only skier in the league to finish on the podium in every race this year.
Mariah Bredal and
Karianne Moe each have one podium finish this year and have finished in the top 10 in every race. Moe will not be available due to a recent injury.
Leah Lange has three top 10 finishes this year.
Julia Richter will also compete for the Utes.
In men's Nordic, three different skiers have all had podium finishes this year –
Maximilian Bie,
Logan Diekmann and
Ola Jordheim. Jordheim has finished in the top five in all four races while Diekmann has three top five finishes. Bie has finished in the top 10 three times with his most recent finish third in the 20-km classic at Montan.
Jacob Engström has finished every race while Bjørn Riksassen is looking to return.
Noel Keeffe will not be available this weekend after competing in the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships last week, where he finished 12
th in the sprint classic.
In men's alpine,
Addison Dvoracek leads the RMISA with three victories, all in giant slalom. He was named the RMISA Skier of the Week after winning both RMISA giant slalom qualifiers.
Mark Engel has competed in two races this year but has finished on the podium in both of them.
Huston Philp and Joachim Lien have both been consistent, as they each have four top 10 finishes.
Ty Sprock has finished in the top 15 three times,
Fredrik Maurstad has two top 15 finishes and
Martin Grasic's best finish is 12
th. Tomas Birkner,
Linus Walch and
Dominic Demschar also compete for the Utes.
For women's alpine,
Eirin Engeset has three podium finishes (second in the league) and has placed in the top 10 five times. She was named the RMISA Skier of the Week after finishing on the podium at the RMISA qualifier races (second at Colorado, third at Montana State).
Julie Mohagen,
Katie Vesterstein and
Katie Parker have also skied for the Utes. Vesterstein has a pair of top 15 finishes.
Roni Remme, who has a win and two podium finishes this year, is back in Europe and will also not be with the Utes this weekend.
