Coming off of another competitive year in the Pac-12, the University of Utah women's tennis posted 10 wins in the 2017-18 season. Last year, the Utes were able to capture the Courtside Classic, defeating the University of Minnesota to take the title. They were also able to defeat in-state rival BYU in the Deseret First Duel for the ninth straight year, coming away with a 4-3 victory over the Cougars.

The University of Utah women's tennis team is led by head coach,
Mat Iandolo, who is now in his 12
th season with the Utes. Iandolo was able to guide the Utes to 10 dual match wins, finishing the season with a Pac-12 all-conference performer in
Alexia Petrovic, six Pac-12 all-academic selections and three ITA Scholar-Athletes. Iandolo also continued to stress the importance of off the court work as the Utes earned the ITA Mountain Region Community Service Award with
Brianna Chisholm receiving the ITA Mountain Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.

One of the top anticipated returners for the Utes, is
Taylor Calton, who is entering her senior season with Utah. Last year, as a junior, she was a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention, finishing the season with eight singles victories and was 8-7 in doubles with
Whitney Hekking. She started the 2017-18 season on a winning streak, grabbing five wins in a row against Minnesota, Utah State, Denver, Weber State and Boise State. Calton was also able to earn a Pac-12 Player of the week honor after going 4-0 in singles and doubles against Utah State and Boise State.

Another anticipated returner is
Brianna Chisholm, who is entering her senior season with the Utes. Chisholm earned the accolades of ITA Scholar-Athlete, Pac-12 All-Academic first-team, and received the ITA Mountain Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award in the 2017-18 season. Playing mostly at the No. 2 spot in singles last season, she was able to grab eight solo wins, with a win at the No. 1 spot against Weber State. She also played at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots in doubles with
Margo Pletcher and
Victoria Robertson, earning four straight wins with Robertson, including a win against the #37 ranked team out of Arizona State.

Last season as a sophomore,
Whitney Hekking was named an ITA-Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic second-team. Hekking played at the No. 5 and No. 6 spot in singles for the Utes in the 2017-18 season, with a total of seven total wins. She earned back to back wins against Utah State and Denver at the No. 6 spot, while picking up a Pac-12 win over Arizona at the No. 5 position. She was paired with
Taylor Calton in doubles at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, earning five straight wins with Calton to start the season.

After redshirting last year as a sophomore due to injury,
Leah Heimuli is set to participate in her first full season with the Utes. Prior to Utah, Heimuli attended BYU-Hawaii as a freshman, being named an All-American in doubles play. She was also named ITA Rookie of the Year in 2017, Pacwest Freshman of the Year, and was a perfect 24-0 in singles and 19-0 in doubles play. Heimuli helped lead the Seasiders to their 11
th consecutive Pacwest Conference championship, ending the season ranked at No. 16 in the Pacwest region.

Using her redshirt for the 2017-18 season as a freshman,
Jasmine Rich is looking to get her first in-season action with the Utes this year. In high school, she played at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, Calif., her freshman year before finishing her career at East High School in Salt Lake City. At Torrey Pines, she was able to help her team to a conference championship, then finishing second in the state in singles as a sophomore at East.

This season, the University of Utah women's tennis team welcomes four freshmen to the team. The first one is
Emily Dush, who comes from Chula Vista, California, and attended Laural Springs high school. Dush was a four-star recruit, who was ranked in the top-75 in the nation and played No. 1 singles in high school. She was a standout doubles player in the state of California, winning multiple tournaments in G16s and G18s.

The next newcomer is
Lindsay Hung, a five-star recruit from San Clemente high school in San Clemente, California. During high school, she was ranked in the top-40 in the nation and was also a high school All-American and a three-league champion. Hung was also a CIF finalist, and was a multi-year finalist in National Level 2 and 3s.

Anya Lamoreaux is the next new face on the roster, a four-start recruit hailing from Mesa, Arizona, attending Mountain View high school. Lamoreaux was a two-time state champion in doubles, and lead Mountain View to a state championship as a team and two runner-up finishes. She was ranked the No. 4 recruit out of the state of Arizona and No. 26 in the Southwest region, and was also named Azcentral sports' All-Arizona Girls Tennis Player of the Year (2016).

Last but not least, is freshman
Madison Tattini, who is a five-star recruit hailing from Lexington, Illinois. At Central Catholic high school, she was ranked in the top-40 in the nation, winning the Illinois Class 1A State Championship in 2016. Tattini also earned a fourth-place finish in the 2017 Midwest Level I Closed singles tournament and was a finalist at the 2017 Midwest Level I Closed doubles play, earning seven sportsmanship awards over the course of her junior tennis career.

The Utes will open the 2019 season against SEC foe Texas A&M on Saturday, Jan. 12. The match will take place in Newport Beach, Calif. at the Palisades Club.
