The University of Utah women's tennis team will be competing in their third event of the fall season this week, as the Utes will attend the ITA Regional Championships. The tournament will be held Wednesday through Sunday, Oct 23-27, in Las Vegas, Nev. UNLV will be hosting the event, while 20 teams from the Mountain Region will be in attendance. TOURNAMENT TALK
The tournament will include singles and doubles matches for Utah against competition from 19 different schools in the Mountain Region. Along with Utah, teams from the Mountain Region sending athletes are: Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, UNLV, UTEP, Utah State, Weber State, and Wyoming.

Wednesday's first round gets underway with Round of 64 doubles at 9 a.m. PT followed by a full Round of 64 singles – with two flights. There will be consolation draws in singles to ensure each entrant at least two matches. A recap of each day's action will be made available at UtahUtes.com after the conclusion of competition each day at the ITA Regional Championships.

HUNG REACHES FINALS AT SDSU
At the SDSU Fall Classic, sophomore
Lindsay Hung advanced to the championship round of the "Red" singles bracket. During the first day of competition, Hung topped Marija Mastilovic from McNeese State in the 'Red' flight, tabbing a 6-4, 6-1 victory. She then advanced to the semifinal round on the second day of action and defeated Grand Canyon's Celia Morel in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. In the championship match, Hung faced off against SDSU's Tamara Arnold and fell in a competitive three-set match.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Outside of Hung reaching the championship match, four more Utes saw action at the SDSU Fall Invite, which included junior transfer
Madison McKay, sophomores
Jasmine Rich and
Anya Lamoreaux, and freshman
Katya Hersh. Rich and Lamoreaux competed together in doubles and picked up two victories as a pair. Hung was paired with Hersh in doubles and the duo tabbed a win on the second day of competition.

In singles, Hersh picked up a victory of day one of the tournament and finished up her weekend with a win on day three. Lamoreaux was also able to pick up a win for the Utes, as she notched her first singles victory of the fall on day two.

LAMOREAUX DOMINATES
In her first tournament as a Ute,
Madeline Lamoreaux  had a dominant showing at the Miami Fall Invite where she went undefeated, picking up three singles wins and a doubles victory. A transfer student from Eastern Washington and the 2019 Big Sky Freshman of the Year, she was quickly able to make her presence known on the Utah women's tennis team.

During the first day of action at the tournament, she was paired with
Emily Dush in doubles and defeated Georgia State's Alba Retorillo and LSU's Luba Vasilyuk, 7-5. In singles, Lamoreaux matched up against Florida Atlantic's Harris Calwell and came away with a 6-2, 6-2 win. To wrap up her weekend, she was able to overcome Georgia State's Stanescu in three sets with a score of 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6), and then cruised past Miami's Dimovska with a 6-1, 6-3 score to go undefeated in singles play in her first weekend as a Ute.Â

UP NEXT
The Utah women's tennis team will head to the Kentucky Invite to compete in the three-day event. The tournament will be held Friday through Sunday, Nov. 1-3, in Lexington, Ky.
