LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Utah women's tennis team closed out action at the ITA Regional Championships on Saturday. Utah competed in both the semifinal round of singles and doubles today, with
Madison Tattini representing the Utes in singles and the duo of Tattini and
Whitney Hekking representing the Utes on the doubles side.

"Overall, we are happy with the progress the team has been making," said head coach
Ric Mortera. "We certainly still have plenty to work on, but saw a lot of positives throughout the tournament. We are excited to continue focusing on improving and preparing for our next opportunity to compete."

To kick off day four of the ITA Regionals, the sixth-seeded Hekking and Tattini were matched up against the seventh-seeded Asano and Huang from UNLV in the semifinal round. Hekking and Tattini fell short in a back-and-forth match, 4-6, 4-6 to end their doubles run in Las Vegas.

Then in the semifinal round of singles, the fifth-seeded Tattini faced off against the No. 1 seed Chiara Tomasetti from Northern Arizona. Tattini dropped the competitive match, 4-6, 3-6.Â

The Utah women's tennis team will be back in action next weekend as they will head to the Kentucky Invite to continue fall competition. The tournament will be held Friday through Sunday, Nov. 1-3, in Lexington, Ky.
