SUN VALLEY, Idaho – The Utah Nordic ski team competed in Sun Valley this weekend in the opening event of the U.S. Super Tour with skiers coming away with several strong results.
"It's been a tough schedule the last few weeks with lots of travel and finals on top of everything else," Nordic head coach
Miles Havlick said. "The team has handled it well with a number of top results this past weekend as we head into the holidays. It will be nice to get a little breather over winter break but I am excited to see what is in store for the Utes when the racing resumes in the New Year!"
In Saturday's classic sprint races, freshman
Luke Jager finished second overall and first among the U18/U20's in the men's race.
Noel Keeffe was also in the final, finishing fourth overall.
Logan Diekmann,
Samuel Hendry and
Ola Jordheim all made the semifinals with Diekmann placing ninth, Hendry 12
th and Jordheim in 17
th.
In the women's classic sprint,
Guro Jordheim finished fifth after a fall in the race.
Leah Lange made the semifinals and placed 12
th overall with
Mariah Bredal also in the semis, finishing 15
th.
Hendry led Utah in Sunday's men's 15-km freestyle race with a fifth-place finish. Diekman finished 23
rd, Jager 24
th and
Ola Jordheim 28
th. In the women's 10-km race,
Guro Jordheim finished sixth with Lange 12
th and Bredal in 25
th.
The NCAA schedule begins on Jan. 10.
