All-America Honors Continue for Anae

SALT LAKE CITY – Senior defensive lineman Bradlee Anae has been named to the Sporting News All-America team.

Anae has been named to three of the teams used by the NCAA to determine the season's consensus All-Americans, earning first-team honors by Walter Camp and Sporting News and named to the Associated Press third team. The remaining two, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), will be released later this week.

Anae, who earned the Morris Award as given to the most outstanding Pac-12 defensive lineman as selected by the league's starting offensive linemen, was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, and earned semifinalist honors from the Lombardi and Bednarik awards. A two-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection, his 12.5 sacks this season is tied for seventh in FBS and his 29.5 career sacks is tied for the school record and ranked fourth among active FBS players.

Anae is the 16th Utah player to earn Sporting News All-America honors. Other first-team selections were Roy Jefferson (CB, 1964), Marv Bateman (P, 1970-71), Erroll Tucker (RS, 1985), Eric Weddle (DB, 2006), Louie Sakoda (K, 2008), Tom Hackett (P, 2015), Kaelin Clay (KR, 2014), Mitch Wishnowsky (P, 2016) and Matt Gay (K, 2017).
