CHICAGO, Ill. – Utah senior defensive end Bradlee Anae has been named one of five finalists for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award.

Named for NFL Hall of Fame defensive end Ted Hendricks, the award is voted on by select college coaches, former players, media members and pro football personnel. The criteria include on-field performance, leadership and contributions to school and community.

Former Ute Nate Orchard won the award in 2014 and was the last Pac-12 recipient of the award. Hunter Dimick was a finalist for the award in 2016.Â

Anae currently ranks seventh in FBS with 12.5 sacks and is second in the Pac-12 with 13.5 tackles for loss. The two-time Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week (ASU, Arizona) was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week after recording 3.0 sacks with a pass breakup against Arizona State.

A 2018 first-team All-Pac-12 selection, Anae recently tied the Utah school record with 29.5 career sacks, which ranks fourth among active FBS players. He is also fourth all-time in school history with 41.0 tackles for loss. Anae was also a semifinalist for the Bednarik and Lombardi Awards.

Anae joins Penn State's Yetur Gross-Matos, Baylor's James Lynch, Boise State's Curtis Weaver and Ohio State's Chase Young as finalists. The winner will be named on Dec. 11. Â
