Tyler Huntley Named Finalist For Manning Award

NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of Utah senior quarterback Tyler Huntley has been named a finalist for the Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
The winner of the Manning Award will be announced in January and will be honored at a ceremony in New Orleans. Huntley is one of 12 finalists for the award and is the first Manning Award finalist for the Utes since Brian Johnson was one of 10 finalists in 2008.
Huntley, who currently ranks fifth in ESPN's Total QBR, is also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Davey O'Brien award, along with being a Heisman Trophy candidate.
Huntley ranks second in the FBS and first in the Pac-12 in completion percentage this season (.755) and is also fifth in the FBS and first in the league in passing efficiency (188.6). He also ranks in the top-10 in FBS football in passing yards per completion (14.75) and yards per pass attempt (11.14).
This season, Huntley is 188-of-249 passing for 2,773 yards and 16 touchdowns, adding 74 carries for 255 rushing yards and five rushing scores. It is the second time in his career that he has passed for over 2,000 yards in a season and it is the most passing yards by a Ute in a single season since 2008.
Huntley, a two-time Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, has thrown for over 200 yards in nine games this season, including two 300-yard performances against UCLA and Washington State. Of Utah's 12 games this season, he has only thrown under a 70-percent completion rate twice and has thrown for over 80-percent in four games.
Huntley's 16 touchdown passes this season is the most by a Ute since 2013. Three of his five-longest career touchdown passes have come this season, including two 80+ yard touchdown throws (83 vs. UCLA to Samson Nacua; 82 vs. Idaho State to Bryan Thompson).
With his nationally ranked performances this season, Huntley has jumped into the top-six in Utah's record books in multiple statistics.

Huntley and the Utes will return to action on Friday, Dec. 6 when they take on the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Championship game. The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. MT in Santa Clara, Calif. in Levi's Stadium on ABC.
