SALT LAKE CITY – Twelve Utah skiers have been named to the All-Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association team, announced on Wednesday by the league, while the Utes were announced as regular-season league champions.
The Utes won the regular-season league championship with 2,489.5 points, 211 points over second-place Colorado. The Utes won three of the four regular-season meets held and also won the RMISA Championship/NCAA West Regional.
The Utes had eight total Nordic skiers selected. For the men,
Logan Diekmann was a first-team selection while
Ola Jordheim,
Maximilian Bie and
Bjørn Riksaasen were named to the second team. Diekmann, Jordheim and Bie have all earned podium finishes for the Utes this season. On the women's side,
Guro Jordheim and
Julia Richter earned first-team nods with
Mariah Bredal and
Karianne Moe on the second team. Jordheim, who is a three-time first-team All-RMISA selection, leads the league with five wins while Richter has won twice and Bredal and Moe each have podium finishes.
In alpine,
Addison Dvoracek earned first-team honors for the men with
Eirin Engeset selected to the women's first team. Dvoracek is second in the RMISA with four wins (all in the giant slalom) while Engeset has six podium finishes on the year, which ranks second among the league's women's alpiners. Dvoracek was also All-RMISA twice at Montana State (first team in 2018) before transferring to Utah.
Mark Engel and
Joachim Lien were both named to the men's second team, each has four podium finishes on the year. Engel also earned first-team All-RMISA honors in 2014.
NCAA Championships get under way with the 5-km and 10-km freestyle races on Wednesday, March 6.
