SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis program will have a quick turnaround this week as they travel to Fresno State tomorrow to take on the Bulldogs. The match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. MT at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.Â
The Utes will enter the match 8-3 overall this season after splitting a pair of tough battles against No. 28 Washington State and No. 7 Washington this past weekend. Utah was able to come away with the upset against the Cougars on Friday, beating them 4-3, before falling in a close match against the Huskies on Sunday (4-3).Â
Utah's doubles performances against the Cougars and the Huskies were on point with
Brianna Chisholm and
Madison Tattini coming away with two ranked wins. They got started with a 6-3 win over the No. 71-ranked doubles team from Washington State and followed it up with a 6-2 victory against the No. 43-ranked doubles team from Washington.Â
In singles play against the Cougars, it all came down to the No. 2 court with the match tied up 3-3. Tattini posted a gutsy performance, losing the first set 6-2 but then coming back to win the second and third sets, including going into a tiebreaker in the third for the win.Â
Chisholm also had a strong singles win against Washington, defeating No. 69 Stacey Fung 7-5, 7-6(1) to tie the match 3-3. The Utes were unable to pull away with a win though, losing on the No. 4 court to make it 4-3 in favor of the Huskies.Â
