SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 44 University of Utah women's tennis team is set for the annual Deseret First Duel against the BYU Cougars on the road on Saturday, March 16. The Utes will travel to Provo on Saturday for a 3 p.m. MT start time.
The match will take place on the BYU campus on their indoor tennis courts with admission to the event being free to the public. Fans can follow along with the action through a live video stream and live stats, along with live updates on Twitter (@UteWomensTennis) and Instagram (@UtahWomensTennis).
The Utes head to Provo with a new addition to its name, jumping into this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings at No. 44, the first time they have been ranked this season. Utah will look to claim its 10th straight win over the Cougars on Saturday after winning in a close 4-3 match in Salt Lake City last year.
Utah is coming off a strong week where they went 2-1 against a trio of opponents, including two top-30 Pac-12 teams to open conference play. The Utes took down the No. 28 Washington State Cougars 4-3 before dropping a close match against No. 7 Washington 4-3.
After Utah's loss to a top-10 team on Sunday, they had to turn around and immediately play Tuesday, bouncing back with a 4-1 win on the road at Fresno State. The Utes are sitting at 9-3 overall this season and 1-1 in Pac-12 play.
The Utes will return to Pac-12 action after their match on Saturday when they head to Arizona State on March 22 and Arizona on March 23.
