Senior provides all the offense with rubber match tomorrow

STANFORD, Calif. - Hailey Hilburn continued her big weekend with two home runs but Utah Softball dropped the second game of its series to No. 25 Stanford, 6-3.

The senior became the first Ute to connect on a pair of dingers in a game this season and the first to do it in a Pac-12 contest since current assistant coach Hannah Flippen (5/13/17 vs Washington).

Stanford used the long ball to its benefit from the onset as Kristina Inouye and Montana Dixon went back-to-back for a 2-0 lead. It was the third of the season for both Cardinal players.

Stanford put a pair on with two down in the second but starter Sydney Sandez got the ground ball she needed to end the inning

The home side added to its lead in the fourth as Hannah Howell started with an infield single. She would score on Emily Schultz's two-out triple and Taylor Gindlesperger singled up the middle for a 4-0 edge.

Alyssa Barrera led off the fifth with Utah's first hit of the afternoon off Stanford's Maddy Dwyer and Hilburn drilled a two-run bomb, her fifth of the season to force a pitching change.

With Utah unable to claw closer, Stanford pounced. A pair of singles started the sixth and after a sacrifice, a Utah error plated two more for a 6-2 score.

Hilburn hit her second smash with one out in the seventh, providing all the offense for Utah.
