Women's Tennis Defeats Colorado on Senior Day

SALT LAKE CITY - The 48th ranked University of Utah women's tennis team was able to card a victory earlier today, defeating Colorado with a score of 4-3. With this win over the Buffs, the Utes have wrapped up the 2018-19 regular season with a record of 13-10, finishing with a 3-7 overall record in Pac-12 play. Today was also Senior Day, where the collegiate tennis careers of Brianna Chisholm and Taylor Calton were celebrated.
"This was a match that we had to have," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "We played a little tentative, but fought through in the end with heart and desire. Can't say enough about the three freshmen in the singles lineup, they were all able to come through, and I think that says a lot about the future. I'm happy we were able to navigate through and came out with a win for our seniors."
The Utes were down early, as they dropped the doubles point to Colorado. The only duo in doubles the recroded a victory for Utah, was 81st ranked Madison Tattini and Brianna Chisholm at the No. 1 position, as they defeated Monica Malinen and Annabelle Andrinopoulos with a score of 6-3.
In singles, Lindsay Hung was able to start a comeback for the Utes , earning a victory on court No. 4 over Megan Forster with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Whitney Hekking then followed with a victory of her own at the No. 5 spot, topping Tallulah Farrow with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Tattini then put the Utes in winning position with a win at the No. 2 position, as she was able to beat out Monica Malinen with a score of 7-5, 7-5. Then on court No. 3, freshman Emily Dush provided the winning point for the Utes, as she defeated Annabelle Andrinopoulos 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, to give Utah the 4-3 comenack victory.
The University of Utah women's tennis team will be back in action next week, as they will attend the Pac-12 Championships. This tournament will be held in Ojai, California, with competition taking place from April 24th-27th.
