SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah women's tennis head coach
Mat Iandolo has announced the signing of Maddie Lamoreaux, a transfer from Eastern Washington University.
"We are excited to have Maddie join us," Iandolo said. "I have rarely seen someone raise the level of her game in two years more than Maddie. She has shown she can play in the upper half of the line-up for a very competitive Pac-12 program like ours."
Lamoreaux will be immediately eligible to play during the 2019-20 season, joining her sister Anya who just wrapped up her freshman season with the Utes. Lamoreaux is coming off her true freshman season with the Eagles, finishing 14-8 overall at No. 1 singles and 15-5 at No. 1 doubles.
She earned Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year honors while also being named to the All-Big Sky Conference first-team for singles and doubles. Her 15-5 doubles record ranks third all-time in Eastern Washington history.
She was integral in helping Eastern Washington to a 12-10 overall record, including going 8-2 in Big Sky play with a shot at the regular season title this past season.
Lamoreaux played for Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz. before beginning her collegiate career with the Eagles. She was a four-star recruit out of high school.
She partnered with her sister in doubles her freshman and sophomore seasons, winning the state championship both years. Lamoreaux went undefeated in singles until her junior season where she only lost one match.
Out of high school competition, Lamoreaux has also competed in national tournaments, including the Fed Cup where she represented the southwest region by not losing a single match. She also competed in the Hard Courts and Winter Nationals.
The summer before heading to Eastern Washington Lamoreaux placed second in doubles overall at the No Quit Tournament in Las Vegas and first place in doubles at the Phoenix Junior Master Tournament in Chandler, Ariz.
