Utah Softball Head Coach
Amy Hogue announced the addition of Elicia Espinosa for the 2020 season. Espinosa spent last season at the University of Texas
"Eli will add power to our offense," Hogue said. "She loves to hit and trains extremely hard to be great. We are excited to have her join us and look forward to her first runs driven in as a Ute."
"I chose Utah because I fell in love with the campus and Coach A," Espinosa added. "She made me feel wanted and as if I was at home. I cannot wait to start winning games as a Ute!"
Prior to her time in Austin, Espinosa hit .429 as a starter at shortstop for Valor Christian in Littleton, Colorado. She also accumulated a 1.479 OPS, .920 slugging percentage, 34 hits, six doubles, two triples and a state-leading 14 home runs as the Eagles reached team the state semifinals. Valor Christian won a state title during her junior season when she hit .625 with a 1.725 OPS.
Espinosa played travel ball for Triple Crown Stars and head coach David King. She blasted a pair of grand slams in the semifinal of the Colorado Fireworks Power Pool to help her club team rally from a 7-0 deficit and advance to the title game.
Elicia is the daughter of Neil Espinosa and Stephanie Vallejos. Her brother, Estefan, played football at Colorado State-Pueblo and she worked with her high school team as part of the athletic training unit.Â
