HOUGHTON, Mich. – A pair of strong results from
Luke Jager paced the Utah ski team at the recent U.S. Cross Country Championships. Jager qualified to compete at the World Junior Championships while
Logan Diekmann qualified for the U23 World Championships, both held in Oberwiesenthal, Germany beginning in late February.
Jager won the boys 10-km classic race. He finished third overall and was the second American in the classic sprint.
Diekmann finished 10
th in the classic sprint while
Noel Keeffe finished 11
th in the race. Both reached the quarterfinals of the freestyle sprint. Sam Hendry finished 12
th in the 30-km classic race and placed 13
th in the 15-km freestyle.
Ola Jordheim placed 14
th in the 30-km classic.
For the women,
Mariah Bredal placed 13
th in the 20-km classic race.
Guro Jordheim was 14
th in the freestyle sprint.
"We had a bit of a slow start this week at U.S. Nationals but started to find our form towards the end of the week," Utah head Nordic coach
Miles Havlick said. "We had a number of very strong performances and I am confident that we will carry this momentum into the RMISA season with the full team back together!"

The alpine team opens the collegiate season this weekend, while the Nordic team will begin competing on Jan. 18.
