SALT LAKE CITY - Dalton Kincaid, a junior tight end with the Utah football team, has been presented with the 2020 Utah Athletes in Service Award. The UAIS Award, sponsored by the University of Utah's Lowell Bennion Community Service Center, recognizes athletes who excel in their sport, in the classroom and in the community.
"Dalton Kincaid has shown his commitment to young kids, mentoring kids with autism, and their families," said Dr. Dean McGovern, executive director of the Bennion Center. "We are so proud when our athletes step up and step forward to help make our world more beautiful, and strengthen our community through their engagement."
Kincaid transferred to Utah from the University of San Diego, where he played from 2018-19. The Las Vegas native has played in four games this season and earned a start against Washington. He's had a catch for 14 yards as well as a two-point conversion this season. During his career at USD, he earned second-team all-conference honors and led all FCS tight ends in yards per catch (18.98), ranked second among FCS tight ends in receiving yards (835) and receiving yards per game (69.6) in 2019.
"My whole life, I've been someone who would rather give than receive," said Kincaid. "I kind of got that from my mom, and she has done so much for me and my sister, and so many others. It's just a direct reflection of my mom for me to win this award."
"I'm very proud of Dalton," said Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham. "He has done a tremendous amount of good for the community here and as well as back in San Diego."
