Sandez dominated USD with an identical performance from the opener (5.0 IP, 1 H) after getting the start and newcomers

Utah started the scoring in the third as Denning doubled and thanks to some evasive base running, scored on a Noskin fielder's choice.
The Utes began pouring it on the following inning with
Katie Faulk walking and being replaced for a pinch-runner in Militello.
Charlee Pond singled and Denning walked to load the bases for Espinosa. The sophomore collected her first hit as a Ute with a two-run single through the right side.

Utah closed it out in the sixth with Militello reaching via fielder's choice and scoring all the way from first on an error created by the speed of Denning.
