FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Andrew Britton set a school record in the 100 breast to cap an eventful evening for Utah at the Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships.
The sophomore broke his own mark from earlier this season, finishing fifth with a time of 52.95.
Jaek Horner finished right behind him in the event with the second-fastest Utah swim ever (53.14). In the "B" final,
Brody Lewis had the fifth-fastest swim ever by a Ute at 54.23 and
Lex Hernandez-Nietling placed second in the "C" final after a 55.77 in prelims
Ben Waterman impressed in the 100 fly with the second-fastest Utah swim ever during prelims (46.23). He would finished eighth overall, with
Cooper DeRyk placing second in the "B" final. DeRyk had the fifth-fastest swim in Utah history during the prelims (46.66).
Colten Montgomery was also in the "B final, taking 15
th overall, and
Santiago Contreras placed third in the "C" final. The West Jordan native swam a 47.94 in the prelims for the 10-fastest time in Utah history.
In the 400 IM,
Jackson Cunningham's time of 3:48.43 during the prelims was good for third all-time in Utah history and a spot in the main final this evening.
Nathan Ramey reached the "B" final and finished 14
th overall.
David Fridlander had a successful evening in the 100 back, winning the "B" final after a 47.83 time in the prelims.
JP Hynes took 13
th with a swim of 48.37, the ninth-fastest mark in Utah history.
Max Hernandez-Nietling captured the "C" final.
Finn O'Haimhirgin was the only Ute to qualify this evening in the 200 free. His swim during the prelims, 1:36.44, was the sixth-fastest time in Utah history. Finn's brother Liam was involved in the 200 medley relay to close the evening. He teamed with
Felix Chiun, Britton and Deryk to place third with a time of 1:25.76
The final day of the Pac-12 Championships will feature the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay
