OBERWIESENTHAL, Germany – Utah skier
Luke Jager recently helped the U.S. win its second-straight gold medal in the men's relay at the 2020 FIS Junior Cross Country World Championships.
Jager is in his third year competing at the Junior World Championships and has helped the U.S. win two gold and a silver medal in the 4x5-km relay. Utah also won gold in 2019 after finishing second in 2018.
Jager also finished 10
th in the 10-km classic, 19
th in the 30-km freestyle and 18
th in the freestyle sprint.
Several Utes also competed in the U23 Cross Country World Championships.
Samuel Hendry finished 18
th in the 15-km classic for Canada. Germany's
Julia Richter placed 19
th in the freestyle sprint and 35
th in the 10-km classic. U.S.A. athlete
Logan Diekmann placed 38
th in the 15-km classic and 44
th in the freestyle sprint.
Incoming freshmen Novie McCabe and Sydney Palmer-Leger were also strong at Junior Worlds, as both were members of the women's relay team that finished in second. McCabe placed ninth in the 15-km freestyle and 22
nd in the freestyle sprint.
