SALT LAKE CITY – Alyssa Barrera was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 team, selected by CoSIDA.
The two-time NFCA All-Region and All-Pac-12 performer has started every game of her Utah career and will return for a fifth season in 2021. A two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, she graduated with a degree in communications. She also minored in business and will attend graduate school at Utah next year.
Barrera ranks fourth in Utah history with a career .367 batting average. This season, she was hitting .421 with a .492 on-base percentage while slugging .649. She was one of only two players in the Pac-12 to be ranked in the top 20 in those individual categories, as well as, runs scored.
Barrera was selected is part of a 12-player squad that includes student-athletes from institutions in the Pac-12, Mountain West Conference, West Coast Conference, Western Athletic Conference and Big Sky Conference. Utah has had seven academic all-district honorees over the past five seasons.
All Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
