SALT LAKE CITY- The Utah swim and dive team swept Colorado Mesa on Saturday at the Ute Natatorium, with both the men's and women's teams coming out on top in the dual meet. Â

Three pool records were broken today with
Maddie Woznick (23.13) breaking the 50 free pool record set by Olympian Simone Manuel, Cooper Deryk (47.21) breaking the 100 fly record, and
Emma Broome breaking the 50 back (25.62) as the leadoff of the medley relay.Â

"I thought we put forth a really solid effort today against one of the top Division II teams in the nation," said head coach
Joe Dykstra. "They are not to be taken lightly and are very good. We looked like we were swimming tired, but still managed to put up some fast times and some good scores. I know we will be better when we get out of training camp mode and get into race mode, but I am pleased with where we are at right now. I am pleased with the effort that was put out by everybody, which is really the only thing you can ever ask for."

Women's Swimming
Utah's women's swim team beat Colorado Mesa University with a score of 176-67. The women started off the meet strong, taking first (1:42.18) and second (1:46.54) in the 200 medley relay. The relay dominance was followed by another first and second place finish in the 1000 free, with
Taylor Kabacy taking first (10:29.29) and
Mandy Gebhart taking second (10:32.97).Â

Utah swept the podium in the next two events going 1-2-3 Utah in the 200 free and 50 free.
Alyssa Watson led the way taking first in the 200 free (1:53.24), and Woznick taking first in the 50 free (23.13). In the 200 IM,
Sadie Edwards placed second (2:05.76) and
Charity Pittard took third (2:07.23).
Emma Lawless took first (54.74) in the 100 fly, and
Emma Broome took second (55.40).

Woznick (50.50) and
Kayla Miller (52.65) took first and second respectively in the 100 free, then
Audrey Reimer took first (54.88) in the 100 back. In the 500 free, Sarah McClendon took first (5:05.68) and
Cameron Daniell (5:06.68) finished behind in second.Â

Pittard took second in the 100 breast (1:02.88) and Mckenna Gassaway finished third (1:06.92). The Utes finished the meet off winning the 400 free relay, raced by Reimer, Miller, Lawless, and Broome. For a full look at the women's results, click

Men's Swimming
The men's swim team came out on top, beating CMU 191-52 to finish the day's competition. With another strong start for the Utes, Utah took first (1:26.94) and second (1:30.56) in the 200 medley relay to mirror the women's finishes. Shortly after,
Nick Becker won the 1000 free (9:43.88).

Utah swept the podium in the 200 free, with
Cole Giandinoto placing first (1:40.38), Santi Contreas placing second (1:41.00), and
Chris Allen placing third (1:43.75). The racers in the 50 free followed suit and took the top three positions when Cooper deRyk placed first (20.30),
Felix Chiun placing second (20.61) and
Andrew Britton taking third (21.11). DeRyk also won the 100 fly (47.21).

Holden Ellsworth took first in the 200 IM (1:53.35) and
Finn O'Haimhirgin won the 100 Free (45.69).Â
Andrei Ungur (48.54) took first in the 100 back, followed by
Ryan Garstang in second (49.47).
Nathan Ramey took the win in the 500 free (4:41.83) and Britton took first in the 100 breast (55.77). Utah finished the day strong by taking both first (3:00.42) and second (3:04.71) in the 400 free relay. For a full look at the men's results, click

Diving
"We had a great bounce back from last week and I think we did really well," said head diving coach
Richard Marschner on today's performance. "Some really great PBs and I like the way we competed."

Lizzy DeCecco won both the 3m (297.45) and the 1m (282.60), helping the women's team seal the win this weekend.Â
Lexi Mills took second in both the 3m (249.90) and the 1m (272.63).Â
Regan Caufield finished the sweep on the podium for both events scoring 228.60 on the 3m and 246.68 on the 1m.

Tony Chen swept both events, scoring 368.03 on the 3m and 315.38 on the 1m.Â
Chase Hindmarsh took third in both the 3m (285.53) and 1m (272.48). Â
Jenner Pennock placed fifth on the 3m with a score of 231.90 and sixth on the 1m with a score of 229.95.Â

Up Next
Utah will take on rivals BYU next week in a two-day dual meet on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29 and 30. The Utah women will compete Friday at 5 p.m. MT, followed by the men on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT.Â
