Women's Tennis Has Successful First Day at Utah Invite

The Utes went 7-2 on the first day of the Utah Invite

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's tennis had a successful first day of the Utah Invite as they won seven matches on the day. The Utes are hosting Weber State, New Mexico, and Utah State for the invite.

The Utes won every match in doubles against New Mexico. Madison Tattini/Emily Dush and Anya Lamoreaux/Samantha Horwood beat the New Mexico Lobos double teams, 8-3. Lindsay Hung and Katya Hersh were able to fight it out against Hsuan Huang and Sarah O'Connor and win 8-4.

In singles, the Utes won four matches on the day. Lamoreaux, Dush, Tattini, and Horwood won their singles matches and went 2-0 on the day. Lamoreaux defeated Megan Davies, 6-2, 6-3. Dush picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Yuuna Ukita. Tattini came away with a 6-4, 6-4 win, while Horwood picked up her first career win as a Ute with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Megan Lombardi.

The Utes will be back out again for the second day of the Utah Invite on Saturday. The Utes face Utah State in singles at 8:30 a.m. and it will be followed by playing doubles against Weber State at 11 a.m. Full results from the Utah Invite can be found by clicking here.
