FIRST SERVE
The Utah women's tennis team is set to return to the George S. Eccles Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Dixie State and Boise State. The Utes will first welcome Dixie State on Friday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. MT. Then on Saturday, Feb. 20, Utah and Boise State will square off at 1 p.m. MT to close out the weekend's matches.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
The Utes wrapped up the first home stretch of the season going 3-0 to start the year. Utah dominated the 2021 season opener over Idaho State, sweeping the Bengals 7-0 to get the dual season underway. The following week, the Utes tallied a 5-0 win over New Mexico State to begin the weekend and then a 4-2 win against Weber State at the Eccles Tennis Center. In the first three matches, Utah was 14-1 in singles play and three Utes –Â
Lindsay Hung,Â
Anastasia Goncharova, andÂ
Anya Lamoreaux – led the team with three singles wins each.

SCOUTING DIXIE STATEÂ
Dixie State is 0-5 heading into the week's matches. The Trailblazers will play Weber State in Ogden, Utah, prior to the match against Utah. Dixie State dropped a pair of matches at both BYU and Northern Arizona, while dropping a contest against Utah State. Kyra Harames plays in the top singles position, while Ya-Chi Hsu and Rachel Mellor play at the No. 1 doubles spot. Dixie State joins the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) this season after making the jump to Division I last year.
SCOUTING BOISE STATE
Boise State comes into the match against Utah with a 2-1 record in 2021. The Broncos have wins over Idaho State and Lewis and Clark State. The lone loss so far has come from a 5-2 loss against BYU. Joana Baptista, an All-Mountain West singles selection in 2020, plays in the No. 2 singles spot and is undefeated in singles action in 2021. She also plays in the No. 1 doubles position. Last year, Utah downed Boise State 4-0 in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos finished the shortened season with a 9-3 record and return all but two players from last year's squad.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah traveled to College Station, Texas with a tough task on deck, battling the then-No. 24 ranked Texas A&M aggies. The Utes fell on the road to mark the first loss of the season.
Madeline Lamoreaux and
Emily Dush were leading their doubles match 5-4, but the match was unfinished as the teams headed to singles after the Utes dropped the doubles point on courts two and three. The Aggies controlled singles play and went on to win the match. M. Lamoreaux was able to steal a set from Texas A&M's top player, but ultimately fell in the three-set battle. Utah was slated to close out the weekend against Houston, but the match was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions in the area.

UP NEXT
Utah will travel to Denver next Saturday, Feb. 27 to face the Denver Pioneers. The match will be played at 1 p.m. MT at Denver Tennis Park. A short turnaround is on deck as the Utes are scheduled to play in-state rivals BYU in Provo for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, March 3.
