SAN FRANCISCO – Utah women's tennis junior
Anastasia Goncharova collected Pac-12 All-Conference honors Thursday afternoon, landing on the honorable mention team.
Goncharova ended her first season with the Utes tied for the team high in singles wins and the second-most doubles victories. She played between the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots throughout the 2021 spring slate and competed primarily at the top two doubles courts with the final stretch of the season at the No. 1 position.
The Evanston, Ill. native posted eight singles wins on the season, which included a 5-2 mark on court three. She picked up singles wins over opponents from Oregon and Arizona to highlight her first season in the Pac-12. The junior transfer made an immediate impact to the program and to start her season, she won five-of-six matches in singles play on court three. Â Â
Also crucial to Utah's doubles play, Goncharova and partner
Emily Dush recorded a pair of doubles wins on the top court over the top duos from Washington State and Colorado. She also collected a win over the No. 2 duo from then No. 12-ranked California with
Lindsay Hung at the start of the conference season.
Goncharova is the program's ninth All-Pac-12 selection, joining Brianna Chisholm (2018), Margo Pletcher (2017), Tereza Bekerova (2013-15), Sarah Pham (2013) and Anastasia Putlina (2012) as an honorable mention selection.
