BOULDER, Colo. – After three wins to open the 2022 RMISA racing schedule, Utah Nordic skier
Sydney Palmer-Leger has been named the RMISA Skier of the Meet for the Utah Invitational, announced on Monday by the RMISA.
Palmer-Leger, the hometown product from nearby Park City, Utah, began the college season and the Utah Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 2 with a freestyle sprints victory, adding another Invitational triumph in the 10K Classic on Thursday, Jan. 6.
In Utah's Friday, Jan. 7 race, a classic sprint that served as an RMISA Qualifier, Palmer again turned in a first-place finish. It capped a busy week for the Utes at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah, with the entirety of the week's races taking place as part of U.S. Nationals.
Palmer-Leger currently leads the women's Nordic points standings in the RMISA (120) with teammate
Abby Jarzin (92) holding down the No. 2 spot.
With the Nordic portion of the Utah Invitational in the books, the Utes currently lead the team standings. The squad was also awarded the College Cup on Jan. 7, given to the top collegiate program competing throughout the week's U.S. Nationals.
Utah's Nordic team returns to action on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 15-16, visiting the Montana State Invitational. The alpine team is ready to roll as well, and begins the campaign at the MSU Invitational on Jan. 18.
