Head Coach Kyle Whittingham On overall prep for the Rose Bowl Game…
"We've got school behind us now, which is a positive. We had finals last week, so going forward it's all football. I guess it could be construed as a mini-Spring ball or a mini-training camp. I think we've got the schedule set as well as we possibly could. We've got a game week replica (practice schedule) this week, then we'll get down to the bowl site and repeat that. I think we're doing it about as well as we can given the situation."
Does the NCAA's one-time waiver for bowls not counting against redshirt limits impact plans?  Â
"Yeah, for sure. We've got maybe a half-dozen guys that are going to benefit from this. Not only offensively and defensively but on special teams. That's a big place that we'll get a boost with our depth."
On what prep looks like in California…
"It's a nice facility. I can't remember the exact name of it but it's a really good facility. Last year, it rained for two straight weeks before we got there, so the fields were almost unplayable. This year, it should be back to normal. The week (of prep) next week looks just like this week. Monday through Friday, a run up to the game as if we were in-season, and of course we play on the 2nd. The Rose Bowl does it right…after 100 years, they've got it down."
Junior Quarterback Cameron Rising On what he's learned about Penn State…
"They're a very good defense. They've got some great backers, great secondary and some good guys up front. It's going to be a good challenge for us."
On approaching this longer amount of time between games…
"Just trying to watch film. It's different because you get a little time to watch our defense again and see that. But you're mainly focusing on that Penn State film now because we're getting back into more of an in-season game week."
On chemistry across the tight ends and wide receivers…
"Thomas Yassmin has been doing a phenomenal job. Munir McClain, along with (Jaylen Dixon) and Money Parks has really been stepping up in a big way. We've just got to keep improving every day."
What do you tell the young guys that haven't been on this stage before?
"Just go out there. It's going to be a dogfight. It's the Rose Bowl. It's two good teams that are going to be playing each other. Just be ready for a dogfight. Got to give everything and make sure you're emptying the tank over the course of the game."
On being from California and going back to the Rose Bowl Game again…
"It's always an unreal feeling. It feels great to get one over there and have your family and friends come out and watch the game. It just means the world. To go back to the Rose Bowl again, it just means there's unfinished business that we want to go out there and finish."
