CoSIDA Tabs Hendry Academic All-America Second Team

Hendry earns 15th Academic All-America selection in Utah ski team history
SALT LAKE CITY – Coming off of the program's 15th national championship and 14th NCAA title, Utah Nordic skier Samuel Hendry has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Second Team, announced on Tuesday.
All-time, Hendry is the 15th Academic All-America selection from the Utah ski team, and first since Julie Mohagen earned back-to-back honors in 2018 and '19. He is also the second Utah student-athlete to earn Academic All-America this year, following football's Britain Covey.
Hendry, a native of Canmore, Alberta, capped the Spring 2022 semester with a 3.97 cumulative grade-point average in biology. He helped Utah win its third straight NCAA Championship, and fourth in the last five completed events. Along the way, Hendry was the individual runner-up in the men's 20K freestyle race at the 2022 NCAA Championships, earning All-America First Team accolades with that result.
He skied to the podium three times during the 2022 collegiate season, earning All-RMISA Second Team laurels. Beyond the collegiate circuit, he skied with Canada at the 2022 FIS U23 World Championships in Lygna, Norway. While in Norway, Hendry raced to 18th place in the 15km classic, and also was part of a 14th-place 4x5km relay team.
This year, he has also been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, USCSCA All-Academic Team and Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll. In addition to NCAA All-America honors in 2022, he was named All-RMISA Second Team for his racing prowess.
In his college racing career, Hendry has landed four NCAA All-America awards (once in 2020, twice in '21, once in '22). He was the NCAA runner-up in the 20K freestyle in 2021 and placed third in that year's 5K classic, helping the Utes to the national title. Of Hendry's 22 college races since 2020, he owns 16 podiums and four wins.
CoSIDA's Academic All-America Men's At-Large program encompasses the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
